Collingwood Captains Deluxe Signed Collingwood Official AFL Guernsey Display Framed - 5676
As one of the most decorated Clubs in the history of our great game, Collingwood fans know that success starts with great leadership. The skipper needs to be fearless, lead by example, and to galvanise those around them – and only the best leaders have that honour bestowed upon them. Through seasons, decades and generations, this has held true and it’s no coincidence that many of the 47 players to have led the Magpies are the Who’s Who in Collingwood’s rich history. Keen students of the black and white point to the leadership of the likes of Coventry, Collier, Regan and Richards as essential to the Club’s story, while the recent decades have seen some of the Club’s greats take up the mantle – Richardson, Shaw, Buckley, and Pendlebury, to name just a few.
In 2023, Darcy Moore has become the 47th Magpie to captain the club. A wiser decision could not have been made; few players in the game today have Moore’s presence on field, and fewer still understand the critical importance of leading by example. Under Moore’s leadership, Collingwood are selfless, fearless and exciting – a brand of footy seemingly built in their skipper’s image. As we pay tribute to Moore’s ascent to Collingwood’s most important job, we can also acknowledge the contributions of those who preceded him and what their legacy has meant for the black and white – a legacy that perhaps has never been more prominent than it is today.
